FWIW - this does not surprise me. I try to keep my portion sizes reasonable and meat to 1x/day and less deep fried (it's so good). The biggest issue for me in the US is simply portion size and the enormous amount of salt and other preservatives in use. As someone who was taught not to waste food, it's very hard to push half of the portion aside and leave it be knowing it will be chucked in the trash (I only take doggy bags if I know I'll eat it in a day or two - I'm often not around long enough to do so)...

I also don't like veggies much but try to sneak them in
