Gift Cards CANNOT Be Used w/ VIP

This makes no sense, but confirmed 3 times.

If you have a res on hold, with conformed VIP upgrade, you cannot use gift cards.

The res agent offerred to cancel the upgrade, book in coach and then HOPE that the upgardes were still available after ticketing (Carnival in Rio, would you risk it?)

"OK then, lets refund the gift card." NOPE- GCs are non-refundable.

Any thoughts???????
