I used to do that, but sometimes they said "sir, I can help you, don't worry," as though they were a bit offended that I was asking to talk to somebody "better." It seemed to happen more often when I dialed in from overseas using the ATT Connect access numbers.

So now, I've gotten so I just hang up if the introduction does not say "Executive Platinum Desk" before the agent's name. No reason to waste anybody's time--mine or the agents'.



Also, somewhat OT, but I have learned that quite a few of the AA phone reps use pseudonyms rather than their real names when they pick up our calls. It's totally fine with me. There's no reason for them to expose their real names to people who they will never meet and who have no legitimate reason to know their actual names. I'm all for protecting the privacy of non-management employees. If it becomes necessary later to identify the reps who worked on specific PNRs, it is easy to look in the PNR history and see the agent sines.
