Whilst much of Scotland is indeed beautiful, I wouldn't necessarily count the bit between Glasgow and any of the Ayrshire ports as "scenic".
The only Ayrshire port is Troon. Glasgow to Troon is an inland freeway the entire way, not particularly pretty. Once you get down past Ayr in South Ayrshire [heading towards Stranraer/Cairnryan ports] it becomes coast looking over the water to assorted islands & then eventually N.Ireland in the distance.
