Has anyone tried this to see if you can use someone else's iPhone to activate your Tripit Pro account? I have an android phone so AMEX can't figure it out. They could easily provide me with a PROMO code to enter on the Tripit Pro website to activate it for free that way. Not sure why they won't do that except perhaps they're worried that people who use the regular Tripit app on Android will get disappointed that it doesn't include Pro features.
Let me clarify, when you download the amex travel app, it asks for the same login credentials as you use to access your amex accounts.
It uses that to verify if you have at least a platinum card (if it sees you have a centurion account, the app displays centurion and includes access to some centurion perks)
Once it confirms this, it transfers you to a special tripit portal for a amex customers where you can create a new tripit account or sign in to your current trip it account.
At this point, the amex app tells trip it to upgrade your account to PRO for free.
Once this is done, your tripit account will be pro, so you can use the trip it standalone app on iphone or android and get pro features.
so to answer your question, once you use the amex travel app and "enroll", your tripit account (a separate thing) becomes upgraded and can be accessed by web/iphone/android/whatever.
