Don't feel bad - you get no such acknowledgment when you reach 1K either. I was expecting animated balloons.
Is there any information that I should have received from United or should request? Membership card? New member promotions? Instructions on how to be more awesome?
You'll get a welcome kit in the mail soon. Based on other FTers' reports, "soon" is somewhere between 4 weeks and the end of the Mayan calendar. (I think UA is counting on that one to get them out of certain obligations).
The only thing I would do now is make sure your MP number is reloaded into any existing reservations, so you're eligible for unlimited domestic upgrades. Each flight segment should say "Upgrade: Pending" until 48 hours before, when it should either say "Upgrade: Waitlisted" or "Upgrade: Confirmed". If that doesn't happen, call reservations.
Don't listen to the naysayers here that you're more likely to see a unicorn flying a UFO than get an upgrade; I was 4/5 on upgrades as a 2P last year. But perhaps the upgrade rate, or at least the cynical estimation thereof, has change recently.
