.
Another passenger "staying awake, eating and drinking, watching movies, and playing cards" does not infringe on my ability to sleep in any way or my right to fly in a reasonable environment. Ten passengers "whooping and hollering" and creating a "noisy and boisterous" atmosphere certainly does.

To do so because the pax look innapropriately young is wrong IMO. And to do so because a different passenger complained the the pax look inappropriately young is worse IMO. I think that the GA should have spent more time in the first place to upgrade full fares or elites from C/Y to F, rather than assigning pax ticketed in Y straight into F (and actually, we don't officially know that these pax were ticketed in Y rather than C)--but that once these pax were all settled in in F, UA should not have downgraded them. If they were being very noisy for a long time, tell them to quiet up or else you'll downgrade them--and I'm sure that would quiet them down.
I won't argue with any of that. I look quite young myself and one of the reasons I switched from CO to UA was because UA staff treated me like a valued customer whereas CO staff often dismissed me because I looked young, even though I was platinum at the time.

Again, for me, this thread is about the behavior of the people upgraded and why I have no sympathy for their downgrades . . . had non-status people of any age been upgraded and behaved reasonably I would still think GS/1Ks should get the upgrade but wouldn't care enough to post.
