You will need to bring a copy of the birth certificate or other "proof" that the baby is under two. Do not assume "she/he is so little they will take my word for it" (they may not and I have seen boarding denied)

As to the "Empty seat" Good Luck. Can't recall the last flight I had with "empty seats" much less to a popular spot like Hawaii.
