The St Regis is Pu Dong, which is across the river from Shanghai itself. There are a number of options of getting to Shanghai, but they all take a while. You've got

* the ferry which takes about 30 minutes by the time all is said and done

* taxi, quite cheap, but when I was last in Shanghai it took about 30 minutes to get through the tunnel under the river, the traffic was awful

* subway, by far the best option, but it's a little tricky to use. make sure you have your destination written down in chinese, otherwise you'll have all sorts of trouble getting a ticket.

As a tourist you would be better off with a hotel on the other side of the river, but US$150 for the St Regis might be pretty hard to top. And you can always get the subway, which is an experience in itself.
