I probably could have been a little clearer in my last post. When I mentioned the scam, I was responding to 315...'s post about being approached at Tiananmen Square. I was saying it was good that he let those people know that he thought they were part of a scam.

As for the waitress, I mentioned that she wasn't being dishonest, because the price was listed on the menu. I know that wait staff aren't tipped in China, however many businesses have their children or grandchildren working in the business, who do have an interest in making as much money for the business as possible. Again, nothing dishonest about that, but was just re-emphasizing the point of asking the price of everything before buying anything in China.
