Bypassing delta.com's Automatic Foreign Currency Conversion on Reservation Quotes?
I am recently starting to second guess doing away with my travel agent. I have started to manage some of my own reservations and have recently found out that if I don't schedule a round trip originating from the United States, Delta.com will automatically quote me a price from the origin country (for example, if my RT originates in Tokyo, Japan, delta.com gives me a price in Japanese Yen, Hong Kong is Hong Kong Dollars, etc.). While this is incredibly convenient, it is downright batty for me when my SO asked me why my credit cards were being assessed foreign transaction fees.
Edit: I thought I would mention that the option in the upper right hand corner when I book at delta.com is United States/English. Yet the automatic foreign currency quote is always given to me.
I called my credit card company and she explained to me that since Delta.com quotes me directly in a foreign currency, that my credit company judged that to be a foreign transaction, even if I was using an Internet connection in the United States (which I was).
Due to the fact that I need to insert many trips intra-Asia for my clients, there are RTs that I reserve that originate from Asia instead of the United States. I can't keep track of ALL the flight reservations I do, like my travel agent used to, I schedule them when I need to be somewhere for my clients.
I don't profess to be an IT expert, or know a whole lot about computers, but from the delta.com website, is there anyway I can bypass the automatic foreign currency quote, and if I can, how do I do this (I know a possible answer is to call the Platinum Medallion line, but if I can do it through delta.com, that is preferred rather than calling)?
Thanks for any help.
