Passengers reported hearing strange noises coming from a plastic bag. State police said later that the bag contained a set of keys, a bagel with cream cheese, some other small food items, a hat and a wallet

Washington, DC

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today (January 3, 2011) that Out of an Abundance of Caution® all passenger keys, hats & wallets must be surrendered to Transportation Security Officers (TSO's) at the security checkpoint. TSO's will then use your keys to drive to McDonald's where they will then use the money in your wallet to buy lunch/dinner. Passenger hats will only be used if the TSO's, in their discretion, deem it to be too cold outside otherwise the hats will be deemed a threat to aviation security and will be destroyed.

In addition, between the hours of 7:30am and 10:30am & seven days a week, all bagels with cream cheese must also be surrendered to TSO's at the security checkpoint so they TSO's can have their morning snack. Passengers traveling with bagels and cream cheese and Lox must also surrender their bagels but they will be escorted to the front of the line.
