I guess the basis of my confusion is that EQM's turn into RDM's, and when you use those RDM's, do they undo the EQM's that they were derived from? So if I fly 2000 mikes, I get 2000 EQM's and some bonus RDM's based on my status, giving me a total of 4000 RDM's miles, if I then redeem 4000 miles (say that's all I have), do I now have no EQM's? Or is the EQM to RDM a one-way conversion that can never be undone?
I guess the easy answer is to say that EQMs can never be redeemed, and therefore redeeming miles doesn't impact my ability to earn Premier Elite status. Right?
EQMs do not turn into RDMs. They are two separate things like apples and oranges. You cannot redeem EQMs to fly.
I fly 2000 miles and get 2000 EQM and 2000 RDMs. I may have bonus EQMS based on the fare and I might have bonus RDMs based on my status. But they are completely different. I can redeem 25,000 RDMs for a ticket. It doesn't change my EQMs. But I won't get RDMs for the award ticket.
