Have you called MR and asked if they could help you maintain Gold? Given your planned stays in January and the fact that you will likely travel more, they may either offer you a challenge or go ahead and maintain your Gold status. Or, they may tell you that you've already been granted the status. Bottom line, calling cannot hurt.
I just called MR and because I had 41 nights in 2010 and will have at least 20 nights in the next four months, they gave me the Platinum Challenge, which I only have to stay 18 nights by April 30. That will give me platinum until Dec 31, 2012.
