Elite miles are separate from redeemable miles. Once the redeemable miles are in your account, they are yours to use and do not affect your status. If you have 200,000 RDMs in your account and use 145,000 of them on a trip, it does not affect your EQMs at all.

In case you are not aware, any award travel you take does not earn miles at all...either EQM or RDM.
