My SO booked a flight a couple of weeks ago on aa.com for travel on Iberia. A call to the PLT desk gave him the 6-digit Iberia PNR which works on both checkmytrip and the Iberia website. Unfortunately there is no link on Iberia.com for him to choose his seats. When he called Iberia they said they had no trace of his reservation on their system (despite giving them the Iberia PNR) as it had been booked via AA on 001 ticket stock

Indeed. The call to try and get a seat assignment was was too painful for such a simple request
