Now that Skype mobile and Google voice are easily available many people use these rather than any other connection whenever they have wifi or a low-cost or free internet connection. Free wifi is common in restaurants, some beaches even (Copacabana, for example) quite a few small cities. We use Skype for domestic Brazilian long distance and some local calls also.
I was in Rio in November and I used skype a lot. Right off my Iphone. Connection speeds can be spotty, but it surely beats the roaming charges.
Is there free wifi in all of Copa?? Like, on the sand?
