Thanks for the feedback - and you're right usually if this were a leisure flight then more llikely i might have just taken the comp. The difference here was that i'd not slept the night before had an absolutely insane day and was in desperate need of some proper kip (however short) to recharge the batteries (BTW i don't sleep well sitting up....well at all really) so due to the circumstances this was a real bad one.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not being critical about your request at all - my comment was added as a compliment that your letter was well-reasoned and persuasive enough to sway me despite my personal feelings about sleeping arrangements (but I also admit I am probably a bit unusual in that I can sleep standing up if I am tired enough).
