I switched from AT&T to Verizon specifically for the GlobalEmail plan. I also had confusion prior to switching, many of the reps I talked to were confused as well. I took the plunge and spent 3 weeks in Europe with 2 Droid Pros and the GlobalEmail plan. I can confirm I was not billed for data beyond the normal monthly charge. I believe the GlobalAccess plan is for tethering and the laptop internet cards. I have heard that with Blackberries people have been able to tether with GlobalEmail and not incur charges, but I did not want to risk it with my Android. This whole thing is very poorly marketed.
I am leaving the GlobalEmail plan on permanently, I am afraid it will be removed and I want to stay grandfathered in if possible.
The plan shows up on my bill as:
GlobalEmail PDA W. SYNC Consmr
$64.99
Excerpt from my bill... The only roaming charges were 2 text messages, and voice.
