IRROP help

Hi all,

On Dec 21 we traveled AMS-ZRH-DEL. ZRH-DEL was on LX 146. Departure was initially delayed about 2:00 hrs due to late incoming equipment. Then after pushback, we returned to the gate because of a sensor fault. Maintenance came on board and fixed the issue; we finally pushed back again and took off after another 2:30hr delay. Total delay was about 5:00 hrs. No weather related issues in ZRH; do not know about incoming equipment.

Result was that we missed our final flight (DEL-VTZ) by the time we cleared immigration and collected our luggage. Initially LX 146 was scheduled to arrive in DEL at 00:45am, but arrived at 5:25am. Our connecting flight was at 5:55am and left on time.

DEL-VTZ tickets were purchased separately (not connected with LX itinerary). Ground staff at DEL told us that they could not help with re-booking us on a later flight to VTZ that day and told us that we had to buy our own tickets. Which we did, but paid a hefty price ($550) for same day ticketing, one-way.

I'm wondering if I should ask LX to refund the $550. Is LX liable here? What are other FT members experiences with LX in similar situations?
