Easy with MCR having rewards for them periodcally during the year...I got platinum without any stays by signing up for a new account a short while back...i read about the promo either here or on slickdeals. Its not worth a lot, as there are few hotels with suite upgrades, but for the effort required...

I might get a chase CC for the 80k bonus and try to get a free suite.

as other have said: whatever program has the best available promo for the moment, should get your stays
