CLT uses jetways on some of the E concourse RJ gates, but a few are still use the door airstairs. Gates without jetways are usually due to current parking layout (E5/7/9), may or may not require extra engineering to install a jetway (E20), or an area that is involved in terminal expansion (E31/E32).
For the gates that require assist access without a jetway, there are a couple long ramps that are moved from gate to gate as required, but are a pain to deal with.
