The LON-EWR flight, assuming its on CO metal, will be either a 757 or a 777 and will have complimenatary AVOD.

The $6 chrage is only for DIRECTV enabled flights. Your flight from EWR-PTY will likely be on a 738 or 739, which means there is a very good chance it will have DIRECTV. Unfortunately, the livetv portion will not work when you are more than 200 miles from the continental US -- probably about halfway through your flight. The stored programming (3 movies and about 4 channels of TV shows, will still work).

There's also a chance you will be on a non-converted 738, which will have movies and tv shows on overhead monitors -- headphones are for sale for $3, but you can bring your own.
