Sadly, we still can't be sure he'll find something. I always keep one or two bottles of liquids in a separate part of my carryon (e.g., lotion or eye drops that I don't want to search around for) and don't bother to put them in a plastic baggy for screening. I figure if they haven't found them in the last 4 years, they're not going to find them today.
What are we going to do once people start smuggling ceramic knives up their @$$? Metal detectors won't find them. Backscatter won't find them. Pat downs won't find them. DHS may have stopped a security threat or two, but TSA has yet to prove they're more important than the burger flippers at McD's.
