I've finally been able to replicate this!! My problem is that my account is set to automatically subscribe to threads I post in, and that function actually works when replying from the app. If you don't have this setting set and you reply to a thread you're subscribed to, it removes your subscription.

didn't have this problem when I posted above from the app but retained my subscription to this thread.
