Early Returns Mastercard Scam

Over a year ago in October of 2009 Frontier Airlines along with Barclay’s Bank offered a promotion that gave you 20,000 miles for applying and using a Frontier Airlines Mastercard The card had no annual fee, but if you were willing to apply for the card that included a $49 annual fee you would get twice the miles with each purchase and an additional 20,000 bonus miles as long as you put $750 on the card within 3 months. My wife and I opted for the card with the fee and each quickly met the requirement set forth by the offer. Then we eagerly awaited our 40,000 miles. After a month or so we did get 20,000 miles put onto our Early Returns account. So then we waited for the additional 20,000 bonus miles. In the meantime we were billed for the $49 yearly fee and paid that. After several months we began to call both Barclay’s and Frontier and to figure out why the miles had not been credited to us. During each call we were told that the miles should be credited within the next billing cycle and to call back if they did not show up. Several more months went by and still we did not received the miles we were promised. Now the next years fees are due on the card so I called Frontier to give them one more chance to make this right. I was helped by a very nice lady named Holly who seemed to understand exactly what I needed and what the situation was. Today I received a call from Holly as a follow-up and was informed that I was not eligible for the promotion because I did not apply for the credit card "on-line". To be honest I do not recall whether I applied on-line or over the phone, but I do know I would have been careful to make sure I understood the terms of the agreement however I applied. This seems like out-right fraud to me and I can’t believe I am the only one that this has happened to. I intend to cancel my Mastercard today and ask for a refund of the original $49 fee. I doubt I will get it but it is the only way that Frontier will get anymore business from me.
