Heck yes, in fact I'm even considering a TATL to get the points. Flying out of LHR (as I generally do) the lounge/food is a lot better, the use of the spa/arrivals lounge even when flying Y long haul is nice, and when there are upgrades to be had I seemed to be more lucky when I was Gold than now when I'm Silver.
