We (collectively) are very demanding. Sometimes, we (myself included) act like spolied brats.

For example, Starwood may comp someone platinum status if they have equivalent status at another program. Yet they likely wouldn't comp an existing platinum with no stays that year. They want to encourage behavior modification.

Companies give pricebreaks or incentives to NEW customers all the time. It's normal.
It might not be fair, but it makes sense from their perspective.

That being said- here's another call for a larger platinum earning bonus (75-100% maybe) than golds get...
