William, given that you think I'm "slaying" you and given that BoSoxFan45 implies I'm not "playing nice" and that I seem like a "brat" -- gee, thx for the gratuitous personal insult --, can I just apologise if I came on too strong in my criticism. Rest assured, I think you do a wonderful job William.
Let me make clear, I'm criticising the message, not the messenger personally, and not the messenger at all if your hands were tied in terms of how you could defend it.
BoSoxFan45: Of course there's nothing wrong with incentive plans as long as they give individuals equal opportunity to obtain the rewards. (Suppose we had an incentive plan that was only available to a particular race, would you take the same position?) My point remains that, under this promotion, two people could stay during 2001 in exactly the same hotels, on the same dates, pay the same rates, and still be rewarded differently. That is wrong imho. And, given the propensity of travellers to share targetted and discriminatory promotion details via the web, I would suggest that marketing companies that use them are living very dangerously indeed if they hope to gain loyalty through them. All just imho, of course.
