Since I'm never sure how much or little I'll use the metro in Paris normally I just do the ParisVisite 6-zoner, but since there is no 4-day option I am weighing options this time 'round. And it seems to me that the CDG RER return is €16,80 and I could pick up a carnet for ~€12.

It frankly has me thinking that I've been throwing away money on the three-day parisvisites in the past.

Am I missing something?
Paris Visite can be cost-effective in certain circumstances, but in most cases other options are a bit cheaper. The RER round-trip between Paris and CDG is now 17.40 €, and a carnet is 12 €. The tickets in the carnet don't expire, so you can buy them as needed and save any extras for future trips.

For the New Year's holiday, transports (RER, metro, bus, tram) in Ile de France are supposed to be free from 5 p.m. on December 31 through noon on January 1.
