the overlapping booking saga actually gets more complicated if i also tell you I have another booking Jan 11-17th at same hotel, but via HGV package, which doesn't earn points per se, but will make checkout interesting. I'll effectively check out 3 times that week from same hotel.
You might want to know that you will need to put the people's names that actually occupy the rooms at check-in. If not, then no one in the rooms will be considered a guest, or have access to get a room key if locked out etc. You can still pay the bill but everyone who has/needs a key needs to be listed to alleviate problems during the stay.
I forgot to add my husbands name on a stay nduring a conference. He locked himself out and the front desk refused to give him a new room key (and rightfully so). The front desk called my cell phone and I had to meet him at the front desk to get a replacement key/add his name. If they are not named on the reservation the front desk should not treat them as a guest with room access.
