Who ever decided to make this hotel an Intercontinental and award it 5 stars
must have been drunk or simply paid by the hotel.
There are two good things about this hotel - the location in a better part of Paris,
close to Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe and free wifi.
What else? The hotel is small and everything about it is small. There is no better rooms,
only one or two "suites", no balconies, no space what so ever.
The room we got was called "executive", I really feel for everybody in "classic" or
"deluxe" category. It is not only small, it is so badly designed
the small space is wasted and the room is pretty much unusable.
The furniture is trying to say "hip" - that means sharp metal corners.
You can easily hurt yourself just by moving a bit. There is no closet
space, no place to put your bags or coats. The bathroom is a joke.
There is no room to make one step there, but still they managed to make it worse
by placing some ridiculous elements in it to make it dangerous.
For example there is a huge magnifying mirror attached to the wall
in a central location and there is no way to fold it to the side - its very sharp
and you can easily cut yourself with it. To make it funnier it's completely
unusable anyway because the layout and placement of the light sources
makes the place very dark. When you try to shave,
you don't see anything in the mirror.
You can easily see an attempt to make the room look modern,
but please don't get fooled - it's not even the Ikea level modern, it's cheap stuff pretending to be hip.
We chose the hotel for the boutique style and personal approach to the service -
what a mistake it was. There is no service what so ever.
They don't care about guests. They have maybe 30 people total
and they are not able to greet you, ask if you need anything, ask if they
can help. They have a decent concierge, but he wasn't able to help us
in any useful way anyway. The cleaning crew was nicer, but they were
parking their stuff in narrow space for ever, it is making the small
hotel even harder to survive.
Please, please don't make the same mistake we made, go to Le Grand instead.
