I was trying to figure out how to upgrade my return flight from BOM to MXP on jet, and well, unfortunately all my miles are in flying blue and skywards. Now, I can convert my CC points to jet miles and buy the missing amounts (or convince a relative or two to gift them to me )

Talking to the call centre tells me that there are no award seats available for that date (Jan 19th), and to call closer to the departure date. What are the chances of award seats opening up then? (someone with experience?)
