Did you ask for any compensation? My flight from DTW-DAY cancelled last week due to mechanical problems and I had to overnite in Detroit. There were some rebooking issues as well. I asked for $150 voucher via Delta.com and received it the following day.
I've also received vouchers both at the gate and unsolicited vouchers/miles posted to my account in the last couple of months.
