Unless you're ordering expensive items (or drinking a ton), $75 or so will feed you for breakfast, lunch and dinner here. The lounge normally only gives you two meals. When I was there earlier this year, breakfast was in the Show Kitchen, and some hot items/snacks were available at happy hour.
There are some decent advance purchase rates here. I see a difference of 400 RMB between cheapest room, and club room. (1080 rmb vs 1480 rmb). You may also want to peruse the Hyatt forum some more, as there may a discount code that you can use. I think I used the Costco rate here once last year.
YES. I agree. If the upgrade is $40-60, I would have paid without any qualms.
When I called the hotel directly, I told them that the difference is only RMB 400 between the cheapest room and Club room so how can they charge me RMB 600? The reason given was because of the low rate I got. I can sense that the person was rather unhappy with the low rate I got and she kept asking me (2 to 3 times) how did I get that rate?
I told her it was a discount from the BEST RATE GUARANTEE (20%). So, her comment was that since my rate is low, I should pay RMB 600. I told her Intercon SZ only charged me RMB 250 for Club Lounge upgrade, Hyatt Guangzhou for RMB 400 etc. And I do not have any problem paying for upgrade from other hotels after I had a discount from BEST RATE GUARANTEE.

I'll tell you what I think is worth it in spades, and that's the difference between a standard room and a deluxe room (usually about rmb 200) the deluxe rooms are very large and very cool. The hotel may let you pay extra directly to UG to a deluxe room if you are on a prepaid rate, or they may not. I'd call the club lounge and ask for the woman who's the club manager.
Will try the Deluxe room for my next stay or I will ask whether I can pay to be upgraded during checkin

However, I'd recommend not paying for club access; food in SZ is relatively cheap and you can find lots of decent restaurants/cafes within 10mins walk of the hotel. RMB 600 will go a very long way.
Personally I do not find much difference between the 2 lounges in terms of f&b choice, both are pretty good.
Thanks for your tips. In that case, I would not pay for the upgrade. Besides, I do not have the habit of having breakfast.
I know SZ pretty well as I have a apartment opposite the hotel. I will just walk across to Hyatt for checkin.

No diamond recognition, upgrade or even amenity, service levels have also dropped a notch. I had around 10 stays at this property and it used to be my favorite hotel in Shenzhen, not anymore.
Very disappointing.
That sounds bad. On the rankings on tripadvisor, the top 2 hotels are Intercon and Hyatt. But of course, I do not trust their reviews compared to the internationally well-travelled and savvy FT'ers.
Thanks Everyone for your Advice. Appreciate it.^
