Shanghai St. Regis - is it remote?
I've reserved a four night stay at the Shanghai St. Regis, which is in Pudong (Shanghai's emerging business district).
Since this is a pleasure trip, I'd like to stay in an area which has some sort of street/nightlife/pedestrian activity instead of feeling as if I'm staying in a sterile corporate industrial park and having to always commute "to the bright lights" via taxi, subway, etc. This can be tiresome after a while.
So my questions are:
1. Is the hotel located in a remote place devoid of activity?
An example of a place I'm trying to avoid would be something akin to staying in the Docklands area (which is dead at night) when the bright lights of Mayfair, Knightsbridge, etc. are a more interesting touristic alternative.
2. How far is it to walk to the nearest subway station (taking taxis can be a pain sometimes)?
Prior searches concerning this hotel are inconclusive for me.
If indeed this is a terrible hotel location, then I welcome suggestions for other hotels which are more centrally located (although I probably would spend at least one night at the St. Regis just to sample it).
Thanks in advance.
