So I'm in Boston this week for the holidays with family. My brother was working on a sailboat in the Caribbean for the past couple weeks and flew back last Thursday for XMas St. Maarten - Miami - Boston. Unsurprisingly he didn't have the best things to say about clearing customs, taking the tram etc in MIA. But he did come up with the best description of MIA I've ever heard. Slightly paraphrased: You've got pasty white Brits and Americans turned pink from Caribbean sun, Rastafari, well-heeled Argentines, and farmers from rural corners of the world on a plane for the first time, excess baggage strewn about, all sorts of colorful language, lines up the wazoo, and little kids of all shapes and sizes running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Its straight out of Men in Black, its like an
intergalactic transfer station
Love it. I'm gonna remember that next time I'm stuck in line at customs or security in MIA. Something to put a smile on my face during an otherwise less than fun experience!
