As I understand it, the equipment was a 752 due in from DUB on CO 23, which was also cx'd @ 9pm Ireland time which would be 4am EST. The flight was scrubbed at 4:54am EST, So I guess they couldn't find another 752 to run the route. Of course I have to rebook on a flight that gets scrubbed by lack of equipment, not EWR weather on the day of a Nor'Easter.
Technically... Look at it as this way...
WX in EWR...
CAL OPS CXL DUB-EWR, get's the aircraft positioned for Monday since there won't be any EWR-DUB arriving Monday for the flight back...
This way CAL protects the INTL Operation...sure it inconveniences people but it's still weather...
They do consider factors downline, and with the way EWR is now...they took a calculated risk on this.
