Now, I lost that also; since my reservation to SRQ was "non-refundable" and I declined to travel via MPLS to Miami (as that would completely disrupt my rental and hotel researvations), Delta wouldn't refund the $300 voucher (even in the form of a voucher!)!!! In addition, I took 3 days off from work (of course I can cancel the vacation and go back to work). Two of my three Hotel reservations went kaput as they were non-refundable!
However, I decided to cheer-up and enjoy the last few days of December for a number of personal reasons. I decided to fly AA and rebooked my travel, Hotel, and rental car.
This whole story sounds nuts! Why would you not accept a reroute to MCO, RSW, MIA or TPA....who cares where u connect? MSP, DTW, ATL, MEM, heck SLC....you should just have them get u to South Florida same-day. Don't see why u would throw away a $300 voucher, non-refundable car and hotel and then rebook on another airline, that just sounds extremely costly an unneccessary to me. If u were going to South Florida (Sarasota) any of the airports I listed would be less than a 3 hr drive max and car rental companies will work with u to change pickup locations from my experience
