I agree that the charges -- I just paid $2.00 each for three calls to toll-free numbers at the W in Atlanta -- are ridiculous. However, I find them downright offensive when they're not conspicuously posted, which they weren't in this case.
When I complained at checkout, I was told that they're detailed "in the book." I had previously looked in the book, but was unable to find them there, since it has so many pages. Further, I find that answer unsatisfactory, since most hotels conspicuously post phone surcharges either on the phone or on a separate piece near the phone. (Indeed, I thought I read somewhere that hotels were required to clearly post them. Anyone know?)
