Agree that missing washcloths is a housekeeping mistake. But I think that there should be consistent standards when it comes to basic amenities in the room. I can't remember the last time I checked into a Marriott-branded property and not found at least a digital clock...or more likely a clock radio. (Sidebar point....clock radios more often than not don't work or don't work very well in hotels due to the nature of the building's construction, and/or noise generated by some of the electrical devices operating as part of the physical plant).
As for the CL's the inconsistency here has been discussed frequently in other threads. There are minimum standards, but IME Marriott needs to do a better job in enforcing them and coming down on the cheapskates. The matter of most lounges being closed on weekends is also a sore spot with many of the regulars here. My view is probably in the minority. I think having a much lower weekend room rate is a fair bargain for not having the CL open. But...on the other side of the coin....if they keep the rate up and still close the lounge (or not offer breakfast certs), then they've lost my business on a permanent basis.
