I've stayed in hotels before that had a maid fee, actually -- but it was always on
weekly rates at extended stay places. If you wanted daily maid service you had to either pay an extra fee, or the daily rate, whichever was cheaper.
I wonder if you could choose to decline the daily maid service and get the fee waived...
I agree it sounds pretty ridiculous to me.
