Citi Premier Elite level card not giving me Thankyou points for flight miles
Ok I know that this topic has been discussed before but I need further clarification.
Here's the situation.
1. I got the Citi Premier Pass Elite Level card more than 3 years ago
2. I usually travel between NYC and LAX several times in a year
3. Every time I bought the airline tickets I got Thankyou points for the purchase + Thankyou points for the number of miles flown.
4. So for a roundtrip flight from JFK-LAX I got 250 Thankyou points for the $250 airline ticket plus 4,800 Thankyou points for the roundtrip miles flown.
5. I did this several times, probably over 20 roundtrips from New York to Los Angeles over the last 3 years.
6. Now for the past 3 months and the last 4 roundtrips Citi stopped crediting the Thankyou points for the miles I flew between NY and LA.
7. Also note that I did not spend much money on the card except flights tickets. On Average I spent only $500 per month on the card if that at all.
8. Over the three years I have had it I have accumulated over 80,000 Thankyou points just from domestic flights without spending $80,000 on the card.
So I called Citi and asked them what's the deal with not getting the Thankyou points for the miles flown. They said that they I get Flight points for the miles flown and I have those sitting in a "pot". Whenever I spend enough money they will match the dollar amount with the flight points and give me Thankyou points out of that flight points pot. But I argued with that this was not the case for the last 3 years! They said it might have been some "promotion". I certainly did not spend over $80,000 since I opened the card, but I still got the 80,000 Thankyou points as "Bonus points" in my statements for the miles I did fly.
My question is, has anyone encountered something similar? Did Citi just change their Thankyou policy recently for Premier Pass Elite Level card?
