I've not been there, but I have been to Recife and Salvador. I can't say I would have a huge urge to pass through them rather than GRU. Recife has a shiny new airport they seem to be quite proud of, but my experience of it mainly consists of the worst check-in chaos I've seen in Brazil, on a rather ordinary day. Its main advantage is its close proximity to Boa Viagem where most visitors tend to stay, but that won't benefit you much.
