Incident: Jazz CRJ1 at Toronto on Nov 30th 2010, runway incursion
A Air Canada Jazz Canadair CRJ-100, registration C-FSJJ performing flight QK-8955 from Fredericton,NB to Toronto,ON (Canada) with 49 people on board, had landed on Toronto's runway 15R and was instructed to taxi via M and T, hold short of runway 15L. The instruction was correctly acknowledged.
A Westjet Boeing 737-700, registration C-FMWJ performing flight WS-492 from Toronto,ON to Montreal,QC (Canada) with 86 people on board, was cleared for takeoff from runway 15L at that time.
The Canadian TSB reported, that a short time later the tower controller was notified by the south ground controller that QK-8955 had taxied past the hold short line of runway 15L on taxiway T. The tower instructed WS-492 to reject takeoff, the crew complied and rejected takeoff at high speed. After a safe stop the Westjet crew requested emergency services to attend the aircraft because of possible hot brakes.
Flight WS-492 reached Montreal with a delay of 1:45 hours as a result.
