For the OP, why do you want to go via HKG? If you do a partner award ticket on CX to NRT, you can't stopover at HKG (would have to be a transit) and its probably more miles because NRT is in Asia 1 and HKG is in Asia 2, which have different mileage requirements. It would probably be charged as a US-Asia 2 ticket and then an Asia1-Asia2 ticket. For the OP, if you can explain your proposed routing (why CX via HKG? why HND?), you may get more specific advice - if you need it - your basic question has already been answered. There are other ways to see CX award availability (Asia Miles, if you have an account, the KVS tool etc.) but if you don't have access to those, then you just need to call AA.
I was hoping to have a stopover in HK. Also, wanted to try CX F.
