Detroit Express Tram

I have a flight tomorrow that will land in Concourse C at DTW and a connecting flight that will depart from Concourse A. I am looking for advice on using the Express Tram in Concourse A. Does it run often enough that even on a tighter connection (knock on wood flight lands on time) it would be faster to wait for the tram to get to one end or the other from the tunnel? And is there a cutoff (ie halfway down the concourse or something) where walking is faster than catching the tram. Thank you in advance for your advice.
