Just found an interesting detail. Aeroplan will allow members to designate ONE additional person to the original member who has authority to transact on the aeroplan account, for example your spouse or travel agent ... or your sister. This person has full authority, as if they are YOU. Aeroplan only allows ONE additional person.
They actually allow more than one. If you fax AP an authorization letter, you can have more than one designate. In my case I have both spouse and travel agent.
