Huh? Are you implying it is unreliable. Well, if my memory serves me well there;s been no accidents with Il9 and only one with fatalities with Il8. 16 fatalities for 130 planes being used quite extensively in the former USSR and in Russia - I would be damned if this is a bad record.
I understand SU only flies this planes to the Russian Far East now (UUS, KHV and PKC). So unless you plan on exploring Siberia, there's very little chance of flying this metal. They used to fly it to HAV, but no longer do (this destination is now served by A330).
