and if must have been several year since you last stayed at at Hilton or IC propery. I avoid SPG as hell in the US, so I do not know. But IC and Hilton make me sign and I read a lot about smoking penalties and would not be amazed to read something about a key card penalty.

Correct to all. Haven't been outside the US since 2005, and usually only stay at Starwood, Marriott and Choice properties. (Have to use Choice when visiting the in-laws in New Paltz NY - ugh!)
